The creator behind the masterpiece, Julia, was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, Charleston’s sister city and coastal companion. With family ties and frequent visits to the Lowcountry, she decided to attend the College of Charleston from ’95 - ’97 before returning home and graduating from Tulane’s A.B. Freeman School of Business with a BSM in Finance.
From the Big Easy to the Lowcountry, Julia followed her passion and appreciation for culture, history and art and made the move official in 2003. Before opening Bottles ‘n Brushes in 2008, Julia was a real estate appraiser with Atlantic Appraisals.
She wanted to craft a business where people engage in an “experience”—a social, creative and memorable experience. Additionally, it was Julia’s appreciation and love of the arts that spurred the creation of Bottles ‘n Brushes in 2008.
In starting and owning her own company, an important part of her mission has always been, first and foremost, to support locally owned and operated small businesses. To Julia, that is Charleston’s main attraction, drawing people to its unique, rich, and captivating culture.
